Starbase is a learning program about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). We do hands-on activities in all these areas. For example last week we did robotics where we programmed a robot named Wall-E and another named EVE. We had to maneuver around a map to get Wall-E or EVE to school complete with stop signs. We used coding to program them and we could choose long or short path. It was a fun way to learn about programming. We were also able to launch rockets made with a cardboard tube, a plastic nose cone and launch pad. There was an engine, parachute, and a small engine. Everyone who participated was amazed by the process. It was fascinating watching them shoot up into the air and the fact that we were the ones who made it happen was very exciting.
